Location: Wombat State Forest, just over an hour west of Melbourne.

Client: DEECA

ERA was engaged by DEECA to undertake extensive threatened flora surveys, verification of existing threatened species records and EVC mapping in Wombat State Forest.

Wombat State Forest has a diverse range of flora throughout. We found a wide range of species including rare orchids, peas and eucalpyts as part of these surveys. Notable threatened species include Wombat Bush-pea Pultenaea reflexifolia, Penny-leaf Flat-pea Platylobium rotundum, Spotted Hyacinth Orchid Dipodium pardalinum, Wiry Bossiaea Bossiaea cordigera and Brooker’s Gum Eucalyptus brookeriana.

The Penny-leaf Flat-pea is a prostrate pea with leaves reminiscent of pennies. It grows in open forest and is classified as Vulnerable. ©ERA
