Threatened Flora Survey, Central Highlands

Location: Central Highlands region, western Victoria.

Major storms in June and October 2021 resulted in large gaps in the tree canopy in Wombat State Forest that will not regrow for many years. More than 80,000 hectares of forest was disturbed, as well as large areas of roadside vegetation.

ERA was engaged by DEECA to conduct a desktop assessment and literature review to determine probable habitat areas for threatened flora. Following this review, our botany team conducted field surveys to confirm the presence (or not) of threatened flora species at different locations. ERA recorded at mapped any individuals or new populations that were detected during the surveys
