Our botany team will deliver field-based project outcomes both on-time and on-budget.
Our botanists are skilled at flora surveys and vegetation assessments, including threatened flora surveys and EVC mapping. Our team are practiced at mapping native vegetation using current GIS technology. We have the ability to work in almost any environment, including remote coastal, semi-arid and mountainous regions. Our botany team hold a current DEECA research license for conducting flora surveys in Victoria.
Our botany team are particularly passionate about threatened plant conservation and applied vegetation management. They have recently completed a number of surveys for rare and threatened flora, and research on rare and restricted plant species in Victoria’s alpine region, and East Gippsland’s saltmarshes.
We currently operate primarily throughout Victoria and NSW. We are working on expanding our services to include other parts of Australia.
Weed Mapping and Management
Our ecologists have practical experience in weed management in a range of vegetation types and are able to apply this knowledge to your project.
Our team can prepare practical, easy to understand, cost-effective weed management plans that meet regulatory guidelines. These plans range from site specific plans to strategic management plans across properties for a more integrated management approach. We use GIS mapping to identify weed infestations for control, and to show any environmentally sensitive areas that may need to be protected.
Native Vegetation Planning Requirements
Our staff are qualified in the Habitat Hectare Assessment method and have completed DEECA’s Vegetation Quality Assessment (VQA) training. We can provide a detailed Biodiversity Assessment Report for your residential or commercial project, whether small or large.
We have an in-depth understanding of the Victorian planning scheme, in particular Clause 52.17 of the Victorian Planning Provisions, and application of the Victorian Guidelines for the removal, destruction and lopping of native vegetation. We aim to demystify the planning process with regards to native vegetation, and provide you with the information that you require to satisfy the expectations of the relevant regulatory authority.
Our team are highly familiar with key biodiversity databases such NatureKit, the Victorian Biodiversity Atlas, Atlas of Living Australia, the Native Vegetation Management Tool, the EPBC Act Protected Matters Search Tool and Planning Maps Online.
If vegetation removal is unavoidable, ERA can help you source the offsets necessary to compensate for the impacts resulting from the project. We can also prepare practical, easy to understand and cost-effective Offset Management Plans for your project.
